The client required a large partitioned meeting room that could be used for a variety of meetings and events. Two 65inch Panasonic plasma screens were chosen as the main screens, with a 3rd 65inch display at the back of the room. The third display acts as a repeater screen for video conferencing, when the partition is open and as a local Pc and laptop display when the partition is closed. The High Definition video conference system has two cameras one between the screens and one mounted in a drop down lift half way down the room. To ensure video quality and reliability all HD cables over 10meters long are fibre optic.
The audio system consists of 40 mic channels feed from a mixture of table mics, ceiling mics and radio mics, the audio is mixed down to 8 zones and delivered from program speakers either side of the plasmas and ceiling speakers. The use of 8 zones of audio enables the level to be gradually increased from the front to the back of the room, and gives a more natural sound.
The conferencing and audio system are controlled by 2 wireless Crestron panels, these also control the lights, blinds and tv channel selection. When the room is partitioned the panels each operate their own area, however when the room is opened one panel acts as a presenters panel allowing control of the room and the second panel becomes an engineers panel showing audio levels and allowing for adjustments to be made live during an event.
The tables presented a number of unique challenges, the two tables had to be configurable either as two 14 seat meeting tables with the rooms partitioned, as a single 24 seat table with the rooms linked or completely removed when the room is used for other events. The requirement for the flexibility to move the tables did not remove the requirements for power, data, laptop inputs and microphones. All signals are links between the tables using colour coded connectors, this and SLS's Intelligent Table System enables non technical staff to quickly configure the room as required.
SLS's Intelligent Table System ensures that the Crestron control system knows how the tables in the room are set out and ensures that the best possible combination of microphones and equalization are selected. This adjustment is automatic and full diagnostics are provided on the Crestron panel to show that all table sections are connected correctly.
